When to use rail chain signal? ›

The most common use for chain signals is junctions. If you put a normal signal at the entrance and exit of a junction, only one train will be able to go through it.

With rail chain signals, it is possible to use multiple trains on a single track, or multiple rails that intertwine. Rail chain signals can be used to ensure that trains only enter a crossing if they can also leave it, which ensures that they do not block other traffic by waiting on the crossing.

Blinking - The signal is not on a rail, or the monitored block is also the block before the signal.

Simple rules of thumb : Signals and Stops go on the RIGHT side of the train. ANY point where a track crosses, merges, or splits off from another track, put a CHAIN SIGNAL before that point.
