How hard is it to get into Brown graduate school? ›

We receive approximately three hundred and fifty applications each year, and are able to offer admission to only a select handful of prospective students. Our faculty weigh a number of factors when considering candidates. The department places the most importance on a candidate's personal statement and writing sample.

The admissions committee looks for a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Students with lower GPAs are not typically accepted but there are exceptions. Are GRE scores required? The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is not required, though applicants may submit optional GRE scores to be considered.

Do you have a minimum GPA requirement? All applications to Brown are reviewed holistically by a faculty admissions committee. Applicants with GPAs below 3.0 are strongly advised to submit additional evidence demonstrating academic potential. Do you require GRE or GMAT scores?
