This homemade apple cider syrup is so easy to make and you will adore the warm, festive fall flavors. It is perfect for gift-giving during the holiday season. Apple Cider Syrup Ingredients

Sugar: For this syrup recipe, you will need 2 cups of granulated sugar.

Cornstarch: Add in 1 tablespoon of cornstarch to help thicken this syrup nicely.

Pumpkin pie spice: Use 1/2 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice to flavor this syrup well.

Apple cider: You need 4 cups of apple cider for the base of this recipe. I prefer Honey Crisp apple cider, I think it tastes the best, but use whatever you like or have on hand.

Lemon juice: Adding in 1 tablespoon of lemon juice to this recipe will give it more great flavor.

Butter: To give this syrup a great rich taste, add in 6 tablespoons of butter.

Canning jars: This is not an ingredient, but to store the syrup in,I love to use 4 8-oz canning jars.

How to make Apple Cider Syrup

Cook

In a medium sized saucepan, over medium/high heat, combine the sugar, cornstarch and pumpkin pie spice together and whisk to mix together.

Then, pour in the apple cider and lemon juice, stirring until the dry ingredients dissolve completely.

Proceed to bring the mixture to a boil, once it start to boil, turn the heat down a little bit so it is not a rolling boil anymore. Then, set a timer for 30 minutes and cook the mixture, stirring occasionally to make sure the mixture doesn’t burn.

Once the syrup has cooked for the 30 minutes, add in the butter and stir it in gently until it has melted completely. Then remove the pan off the heat.

Cool and serve

Continue to pour the syrup into canning jars, let the syrup cool in the jars for a little bit. Once cooled, place the lid tightly on top and store in the fridge until you are ready to use.

When you are ready to enjoy the syrup, take the lid off the jar and microwave it for 1-2 minutes. Then pour it on pancakes, waffles, ice cream, pound cake, or whatever you’d like!
