53 Quick and Easy Crock Pot Recipes (1)A few weeks ago one of my friends was asking me if I knew of any easy crock pot meals…easy as in, you probably have most of the ingredients on hand, and there aren’t a million things involved. I have a few that I love on my blog, so I sent her those, but then I had some major inspiration to put together a huge list of super easy crock pot meals. Don't have a crock pot? Don't worry! They are pretty affordable and definitely pay off with the time you save, and the convenience. I love this Programmable Cook and Carry 6qt. Slow Cooker53 Quick and Easy Crock Pot Recipes (2). It can hold a ton of food, and it is super easy to travel with and clean (the stoneware comes out, and is dishwasher safe!).

There are so many recipes floating around on the internet for various crock pot meals, but sometimes when you actually check one out that looks good, you see there are 30 ingredients involved, and who has time for that when you are trying to save time and be efficient in the first place by using the crock pot and cooking ahead?

That’s where this list comes in! I have put together a list of 53 super easy crock pot recipes and most have less than 5 ingredients (I am not counting spices and basic ingredients that most people have in their pantry…like flour and salt). There are several main dishes, sides, breakfast, and dessert recipes….something for everyone!

Does anyone have a good crockpot recipe for braised beef short ribs w/o wine?

Cynthia, I would try either using beef broth or red wine vinegar. You could probably leave it out all together w/o a sub if you wanted. Thanks for stopping by!

I made the Teriyaki Chicken recipe on Monday and it was DELICIOUS! My only recommendation is to double the recipe if you have a family of 4 or more. I have a 6'4 teen son along with my 17 yo daughter and husband and it wasn't really enough...so next time I will double up everything. Thanks for sharing!

Glad to hear, Suzanne! That is also a good tip about doubling! For some reason whenever I cook in the crock, I always think it's going to be an enormous amount, and then it turns out way less than I expect. I think because I am deceived by the size of the crock itself! I am happy to hear you liked the recipe though!

FAQs

What is 1 hour on high equal to on low in a crock pot? ›

Change cooking times depending on your schedule. One hour on HIGH generally equals two hours on LOW.

Can I just throw a bunch of ingredients in the crockpot? ›

For many dishes, particularly soups and stews, you really can just throw all the ingredients in.

Why is my beef still tough after slow cooking? ›

Meat that is over-cooked, even if it's submerged in liquid, will eventually dry-out, and get tough, and different cuts of meat cook differently. There are a few reasons for that. Not having enough liquid in the pot can do it. A poor cut of meat can result in toughness as well.

Can you put raw meat in a slow cooker? ›

Yes, you can add raw steak to a slow cooker to cook it to your desired doneness level.

What happens if you slow cook on high instead of low? ›

Switching to High for the sake of time savings can leave you with a roast that's dried out or even burned on the exterior, but undercooked and not at a food-safe temperature in the center. You'll have cooked a pork roast, but not one you'll want to eat. Switching from High to Low means mucky or dry results.

What happens if you cook Crock-Pot on high instead of low? ›

Foods take different times to cook depending upon the setting used. Certainly, foods will cook faster on high than on low. However, for all-day cooking or for less-tender cuts, you may want to use the low setting.

What does the 4-6 8 10 mean on a Crock-Pot? ›

Cook time options include 4 or 6 hours on HIGH, or 8 or 10 hours on LOW. The corresponding light illuminates, the slow cooker heats, and the internal timer starts counting down the time. NOTE: WARM is ONLY for keeping already cooked food at the perfect serving temperature until you are ready to eat.

Which is better a Crockpot or slow cooker? ›

If you're planning to cook your meals mostly when you're not home or overnight, then sticking to a Crockpot might be a better choice, since the heat distribution is more even and there is no need to stir at all.

Can you put raw hamburger in crockpot? ›

You certainly can add raw ground beef to the crockpot. As a matter of fact, many (if not most) slow-cooker chili recipes ask for the meat to be added raw.

Can you put raw steak in a slow cooker? ›

If you want to, you can sear the edges of the meat in a skillet before starting it in the slow cooker for a little bit of added flavor. But if you prefer not to heat up your stove, you can just put the meat in the slow cooker raw.

Can I throw raw chicken in the slow cooker? ›

Raw Meat. "Raw meat is a slow-cooker staple, but you may need to add it to the pot before adding other ingredients like green vegetables," she shared.

How do I get the best results from a slow cooker? ›

Avoid overcrowding: For the best results, fill a slow cooker between one-half and two-thirds full. Go ahead and cook big roasts and whole chickens; just make sure you use a large crock and that the lid fits snugly on top. Trim fat: For silky sauces and gravies, take a minute or two and cut the excess fat from the meat.

Why does my slow cooker burn everything? ›

This is because slow cookers cook food at a lower temperature than other methods, such as stovetop cooking. This means that it takes longer for the food to reach the correct temperature, which can cause the food to overcook and become burnt.

How safe is it to leave a slow cooker on all day? ›

Are slow cookers safe to leave on? Yes, it's safe to leave a slow cooker on when you leave the house. The purpose of a slow cooker is to allow you to cook while you aren't home. Slow cookers simmer food slowly, killing bacteria and raising meat to the perfect internal temperature.

Is it safe to leave slow cooker on overnight? ›

One of the most frequently asked questions we get is, “are slow cookers safe to use overnight or unattended?”, and the answer is- yes!
